Provider Profile – Gina Holmes

1. What is your role/position with NHCLV and how long have you worked for the organization?

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Therapist)/Yoga Instructor. 1.5 years.

2. Why do you think an FQHC is important in caring for members of the Lehigh Valley community?

I think an FQHC is important in caring for members of the Lehigh Valley because we offer so many services which provide convenience while receiving comprehensive physical and mental healthcare.

3. What’s the most important thing you have learned working for an FQHC?

I am grateful for the opportunity that NHCLV has given me to get yoga teacher certified. I have learned so much in this nine-month training program. This allows me to not only apply traditional therapeutic modalities to the patients I see, but to now offer progressive relaxation, stress relief to relieving muscle tension, as well as meditation. This has been extremely useful when treating patients with anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.

4. What do you love most about your job?

I love the opportunity to have continuing education opportunities as well as the camaraderie I have experienced while working with teams at all three NHCLV locations to provide patient care. I smile and laugh multiple times a day with staff and patients.

5. What one piece of advice do you have for patients when it comes to caring for their health?

My advice to patients is be honest with yourself. Be open to feedback and be flexible with yourself and those around you. Embrace life as a journey knowing that your thinking is your most powerful resource.
